چکیده

Focusing on radiative properties (absorption and scattering coefficient, scattering phase-function) of silicon carbide foams, several predictive models are compared to spectral transmittance and reflectance measurements (bi-directional and directionalhemispherical) in the aim of determining new correlations based on ceramic foam characteristics (struts/pores size and porosity). A mono-dimensional modeling is developed to solve Navier-stokes equations (conservation of mass and momentum) and energy equations (coupled heat transfers) inside the absorber. Several radiative models are tested to approximate the radiative transfer equation end compute the radiative source term (Rosseland, P-1 model, and two-flux approximation). Numerical simulations are compared to reference results obtained with Monte-Carlo algorithm using net-exchange formulation. © 2013 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Synthesis and Characterization of Mechanical Behavior and Thermal Shock Resistance of Macro-Porous SiC Solar Absorber

The concentrated solar power (CSP) is one of the renewable energy sources in which solar irradiation heat energy will be used in a steam turbine to generate electrical grid. Solar radiation is absorbed by a solar receiver reactor on the surface of a porous solar absorber. In this survey, synthesis and mechanical/thermal characterization of micro-porous silicon carbide (SiC) absorber to be used ...

Optimization of Annealing Process for Totally Printable High-current Superstrate CuInS2 Thin-Film Solar Cells

Planar superstrate CuInS2 (CIS) solar cell devices are fabricated using totally solution-processed deposition methods. A titanium dioxide blocking layer and an In2S3 buffer layer are deposited by the spray pyrolysis method. A CIS2 absorber layer is deposited by the spin coating method using CIS ink prepared by a 1-butylamine solvent-based solution at room temperature. To obtain optimum annealin...

Optical properties of boride ultra-high temperature ceramics for solar thermal absorbers

It is a known rule that the efficiency of thermodynamic solar plants increases with the working temperature. At present the main limit in temperature upscaling is the absorber capability to withstand high temperatures. The ideal solar absorber works at high temperatures and has both a low thermal emissivity and a high absorptivity in the solar spectral range. The present work reports on the pre...

Experimental Investigation of the Efficiency of a Semi-Spherical Solar piping Collector

Solar water heaters are good tools for saving fuel. The main component of these water heaters is collectors, which are responsible for absorbing solar energy and transferring it to the working fluid with the least heat dissipation. The present study is an experimental study of the performance of the solar semispherical collector with 1 m2 of absorber area at different volumetric flow...

Numerical Study of Natural Convection Heat Transfer in a Horizontal Wavy Absorber Solar Collector Based on the Second Law Analysis

Literature about entropy generation analysis of a wavy enclosure is scare. In this paper. a FORTRAN cod using an explicit finite-volume method was provided for estimating the entropy production due to the natural convection heat transfer in a cosine wavy absorber solar collector. The volumetric entropy generation terms both the heat transfer term and the friction term were straightly calculated...
